2006 Nunn Perry Recipient
M & M Technical Services, INC. has been announced as a 2006 recipient of the prestigious Department of Defense (DoD) Nunn-Perry Award for its outstanding performance on the DoD Mentor-Protégé program with Lockheed Martin Maritime Systems & Sensors-Undersea Systems division. The annual award recognizes successes for both Mentor and Protégé companies that achieve cost efficiencies, quality initiatives, enhance technical capabilities, and increase small business opportunities for DoD prime contracts and subcontracts.
The award was established in 1995 in honor of former Senator Sam Nunn, who sponsored the legislation that created the DoD Mentor Protégé Program, and former Secretary of Defense William Perry, for his commitment to the program's implementation.
M & M has worked in collaboration with Lockheed Martin to define cost effective tailored implementation of ISO 9001:2000 standards for small businesses, for achieving SEI CMMI Level II compliance and formal assessment in 1 year, and for their outstanding commitment to the mentoring and promotion of other small businesses. They have successfully achieved the following goals during their participation in the DoD mentor protégé program:
- ISO9001-2000 certification and has achieved two consecutive perfect audits.
- SEI CMMI Level II in one year.
- Providing subcontracts to three other small businesses.
- Expanded their operations to both Dallas and Philadelphia.
- Achieved a TS site clearance
